Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership
The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership is made up of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), local authorities and other local bodies who have come together to take responsibility for the entire local health and social care budget. These arrangements were enacted through an agreement between the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, NHS England and CCGs, and are supported by new governance structures.
The partnership:
- makes local decisions for the 2.8 million people in Manchester
- tackles social determinants of health, such as education, debt and poverty
- features preventative health campaigns, including quit smoking and physical activity
- has a whole of system approach (hospitals, GPs, councils, voluntary sector, mental health services, mayor of Manchester)
- is committed to improving specific health outcomes.
